Business Intelligence Tutorial
We have made it easier to develop your first Business Intelligence algorithms on Foxtrot Code. We help you learn how to analyze raw data, determine what analyses and data are worth visualizing, and then developing the algorithms to generate this data. Our Business Intelligence Tutorial is a step-by-step guide to explore raw data, create algorithms, and generate data you could use in visualization applications like: Tableau, PowerBI, Tibco, Spotfire, etc. The tutorial is designed for a new Foxtrot Code user to learn how to develop algorithms in our platform.
The BI tutorial will generate algorithms and data for an interactive dashboard for an e-commerce website (simulated data provided). The tutorial covers a variety of topics including: ETL, Data Exploration, Statistical Processing, and Analytics. As you complete the tutorial, you will be accessing and cleaning up the data, and exploring the data for interesting features. It generates the algorithms to refactor and reformat the data with statistics, geolocation, as well as preparation for various graphs and visualizations. The end result includes algorithms to generate maps, bar charts, pie charts, tree maps, as well as event tables and the data for drop downs to filter the dashboard.
The BI tutorial is designed to be completed in an hour or less by someone that does not have programming expertise. A basic knowledge of the kind of data generated in website logs (e.g. duration, bytes, status codes, devices, etc ) is helpful, but not required. The target for this solution will be a Splunk dashboard capable of leveraging very large scale datasets.
The tutorial includes a partially complete version of the algorithms to provide structure to the experience, and a final version of the algorithms for reference. The tutorial algorithms are already listed on the Marketplace for you to download into your Foxtrot Code development environment. You will be asked to complete the tutorial version of the algorithms adding the missing pieces described in the tutorial. Videos backup the written instructions to make it easy to follow along. The tutorial comes complete with access to a cloud-based Splunk implementation to test out your algorithms with the various visualizations.
